This seems like a pretty good price for a flyable jet trainer. What do you all think?

Even the $25,000 is way more than its worth. Maybe in 50 years, but not now. The cost of getting that thing safe to fly would be WAY more than its worth when its finished.

How hard would parts support be for something of this era?

There are actually a lot of parts and tools for the L-29 in this country. There is actually a bit of an L-29 movement getting started as they are a relatively low cost, easy to maintain jet aircraft that will give you a lot of thrills.

@ 1200 PPH! That said, I think the real deal is to get an L-29 and re-engine it with a Rolls Royce Viper, which nearly doubles the thrust with basically the same fuel burn. Bone stock, I think the only reason to get an L-29 over an L-39 is the lower capital cost.

There were two L-29s competing at Reno this year, and running very well.
