So I bought the box set. I haven't seen any of the extended versions. I just finished up the “return of the Jedi”. I’m curios what others think of it. I know there are some Sci-Fi people out there.
I thought they did a great job in cleaning up the movie. If was not nearly as grainy. They effects looked much better. I also really like the added footage. The Cloud city looked a lot more real to me then before. I always thought that looked stupid, the colors and all. I think it was well worth the buy.

Hi Tim, I got the set too and also noticed that the cloud city sequences looked better. I like the new footage as well but the one thing that has stood out for me so far is they re-dubbed Bobb Fett using the voice of the actor in the the new movies. Which makes sense since Boba is a clone of Jengo Fett so should sound like him. Haven't got to Jedi yet.
I like the set and think it is well worth it for the SciFi fan. Only problem is this makes the 3rd set of Star Wars that I own.

aah, another person with sets of sets. My wife just does not understand the differences though, even when shown, unless it is something for her.

It's great to finally see them on DVD, but why does everything need to be updated and adapted? I personally find the CG very distracting. At this point in time, I can't see CG replacing good model work in quality. Don't get me wrong though, 3D graphics are great, but they belong in games and cartoons, not in live action films they just never fit correctly. Other than the CG stuff, I'm a bit annoyed about replacing some of the actors, such as Bobba Fett's voice, the Emperor's voice, and the ghostly appearance of Anakin Skywalker. All in all, I'm happy to finally have the trilogy on DVD, though I wish Mr. Lucas had done nothing more than to clean up the video and audio of the original trilogy. Oh, one last gripe, Han shoots first.

Well, I got the set on the day it was released and to be honest, although I know where the changes are, I don't really notice them!
Guess I just get too involved
The one main thing that I do remember from the original release of A New Hope, is that Jabba was played by a fella, rather than the slug like creature in V and VI.
Now if only I could remember how to work out what my Jedi name would be...

Hey guys I too not to long ago bought the Trilogy on DVD. I have not been able to watch very much of them at all. I do however have one very tiny question and it is really making me curious. Ok here goes. In episode IV A New Hope after C3PO and R2D2 escape from the Rebel ship in the beginning and land on Tatoonie. When the scene first shows them and the escape pod is in the near back ground, right next to (or leaning on) the escape pod, WHAT IS THAT BLUE THING SUPPOSE TO BE?????????????? I have heard a few ideas of what it could be. What everybody keeps saying is that it is the hatch or lid to the pod. Why is it blue????????? Sorry just a question. Love them so far though. Wow they sure did a great job cleaning everything up.

well i noticed many subtle things although they didnt muck up the flow of the movies (like the new emperor talking about skywalker and his son). the ending of ROTJ was excellent and ties in great with ROTS.
Now for the blue thing which i have only just noticed. i think its a CGI flag ie where CGI was meant to be inserted and wasnt OR
its a parachute OR
its left over from the blueyness issues they had with the original film due to degredation....
a few options

Thanks Shelldrake, thank goodness I thought for a while there that I had just been seeing things again. Glad to hear that it is on your copy of the film also.

Dave D / Shelldrake,
The blue thing is the escape pod lid/door, the blue colour is the interior, I played the section froze it, went went through it frame by frame, then I expanded it and if you look closely you can just make out the interior of the escape pod.
