Built from an unknown kit of Russian origin, with a plunge formed canopy and home made decals.

"Plunge formed canopy"? Whazzat? Like vacuum forming or are you stretching heated plastic over a plug??

Beautiful model by the way!

Sounds like the old "heat & smash" technique..pulling a sheet of heated plastic down over a "male" mold.

That's it exactly. I heated some clear plastic and drove the original solid kit canopy (that I had cut away from the fuselage) into it. It worked OK the first time.

Great work..how'd you manage to get the undercuts on the canopy?

Steve

I cut the canopy from the backing sheet with some plastic remaining beyond the "plunge form" line and then cut/folded/profiled the excess back to form the undercut.

Wow, that's something I might have to try, I have two kits, one of which didn't include glass.
