Why do they need DH Mosi parts?
http://www.fighterfactory.net/forsale.html
I assume the Kingfisher, Tony, and Vengence parts are for the purported Down Under rebuilds...what are the Mosi parts for?
I would love to see FF get a Mosi in the air!

What is the story about the F4U they have for sale?
Edit:
Is it a no-fly airframe?

The corsair they have for sale is a project. The inner wing was sawed off on one side (forget which) when it was used as a display at some point in its history. To make it a flyer, you'd have to replace the main spar in other words... which has yet to be done on a flying corsair.

Richard

And it all comes back to the main spar.
Maybe someday

Richard has the history correct. It is this plane:

My understanding is quite a bit of money has gone into it already and it needed so much more work (the spare issue) that Mr. Yagen decided it was easier and cheaper just to buy a flying Corsair. It is a rare F4U-1 version.
Jim
P.S.: Yea Richard we sure did. It just blew me away to see the Mosi listed!

I'd think a simplified, new built spar could be made. It could be signed off by aero engineers, and tested using finite elements analysis methods.

Hi Rob... the Canadian Mossie you are thinking of was formerly of Ed and Rose Zalesky. It was sold to Bob Jens, also of Canada, and he's still restoring it slowly but surely the last I heard.
Chris... about re-engineering the corsair spar... sure it could be done, in fact Tom Reilly gave it his best on the -4 he had been restoring for John Silberman.... but it says a lot that the people who have that project now don't appear to be using that spar in the rebuild of the former Pardue and Cavenaugh -4's. I guess there must be liability implications which make it too risky in their judgement. To be honest, I think it would be cheaper to build a new corsair spar the way they did in the first place, with heavy rollers.

Richard

The Corsair is spoken for and on it's way downunder and the wording on the Tony. Kingfisher . Vengeance stuff is not purported it is HAPPENING - They are all sitting in the jigs being worked on and can be seen at
http://community.webshots.com/user/setter125 then look at the Wangarratta pics at the bottom of the list

Hello Everyone:
I've confirmed some of this as well, however I've been told it's sopposed to be kept quiet.

Hi Harvard IV
I don't know who owns what at Wangarratta in any great detail and I don't ask too many questions in terms of that. The reason I said all the projects were happening is to confirm that they are working on several examples of each type and some are for export customers that is all I can confirm. As far as what is confidential or not I understand some US collectors are reticent to dicuss their activities and I prefer not to mention names or aircraft identities if I am not sure that the owner is OK with that.
On the other hand it has to be understood that these restorations are taking place in a facility where the public can view the work taking place so it is difficult to be secretive if the airframes are easily recognised and displayed as they are being worked on.
Regards
John

Maybe I shouldn't intervene, but after hearing you guys go back and forth about building new spars for Corsairs, you need to look at a real one along with the drawings, before you think it's no big deal! We've been looking into this for about ten years and things are just stating to come together. I can tell you this, it's a very big deal with a very big price and a CO-OP will be formed. This is going to happen!! Happy Holidays! John Lane

That's fantastic news John... if anyone can do it, I imagine you can. Keep us in the loop when you can, as it's something I can guarantee we are all interested in. Would this also include making new hinges also?
Cheers,
Richard
