Ours has the Parks conversion IO520BB with tip tanks and is in Marines colors, dark blue with marines on the side N563DP. It was the aircraft I got to learn and get my private ticket in.

Paul, good for you to fly that Mentor around! How's the aircraft with the wee engine? With the 285HP it really hauls ass, but I heard it was a bit underpowered with the O-470. It might compare to the Pilatus P-3 with the 260HP.

She's got more than enough power for what we use her for. The best part of that "small" engine is that it's easy on the fuel burn.
Although, I would say if you're used to a 285HP T-34, and you jump in a 225HP T-34, you'd probably think it's underpowered.

We have the IO-520 too from the Cessna 206, I think that when we got it it had the O-470 and they flew it to the States to have it STC'd. It's painted dark blue with Royal Canadian Navy markings. I'll upload a picture for you guys sometime today.

You got that right. Small engines are good on the fuel! The Focke-Wulf burns 18-19 gallons an hour, so you don't take that for a wee spin! I'd like to try the T-34 with the O-470, it would probably be like the Pilatus.
