Oh, Mr Rohr, you're such a b1tch !!!

Anyhows, the first one is a Sikorsky S-21, the world's first 4-engined aircraft.
To be honest, I don't actually know the US Navy connection.

Hi Don,

The S-21 was the first 4-engined aircraft that Sikorsky flew, but the bigger S-22 was the development model that carried passengers (or bombs).
So I dunno??

The other 3 are hard ones too

Cheers
Chris,

If anyone needs a good laugh here are my shots in the dark for:
#2 Aviatik Taube
#3 Voisin Hydravion
#4 Fredrichshaven Monoplane

Dinners ready I'll check back after the laughter has died down.

Hello Chris, I am waiting to see how close I came on this quiz. This era of aviation history is really not my forte. I prefer World War II aviation. However, judging by your Nieuport it looks like you are interested in WWI. Looking for answers to todays quiz I found this link http://www.members.shaw.ca/flyingaces/archive1.htm
looks like it might be of interest to you. Are you involved in the restoration of a Nieuport ?

Well done Don, you seem to be better at this one than me.

Yes I like WW1 and WW2 aviation. Hell, I like anything that flies !!!

However, I'm about to embark on a flying replica of a Nieuport 12, which Bridget and myself are going to build and fly.

Thanks for the link, it's great !!!

Back to the quiz....hmmm....Mr Rohr you are evil !!!!

Cheers
Chris

I now have so many internet sites bookmarked that it is getting difficult to find the WIX. Is number 4 a Borel Floatplane. How many monoplane floatplanes can there be from this era?

Chris that sounds really neat! What are you going to use to power it? Rotary engines are in short supply these days LOL. I assume that when you start you will provide us with frequent updates.

Colonel R am I even close on that Taube?

Well I've searched and searched but to no avail on # 4... :(

I'll let Don do this...

BTW The Nieuport I'm about to build is a 7/8 scale one powered by a dubbie engine.
No rotisary needed.

I totally agree if you have the interest and the spare time you can find anything you want on the internet. Unfortunately even the internet cannot make 100 year old photographs look good. #2 Otto Flugmaschinenwerke monoplane . Regis says is that your final answer. DonL says thats my final answer.

dang !!

Don you are really good at finding the obscure aircraft.
I couldn't !!!!

From the 5 sites I found with that Flug name it resembles the aircraft in Mr Rohr's pic.

The one picture that I found was not of the highest quality. It bears a faint resemblence to the Colonels #2 picture. I hope that if there is another quiz that it is much easier than this one. I only have a copy of Jane's Fighting Aircraft of World War I that comes close to this period of aviation. This is the first time in many years that I have opened that book. Good thing that I did because I found my lost Elvis stamps in it. About 10 years ago a friend of mine convinced me that they would be a good investment. Never take investment advice from a friend. Sorry about the Elvis rant. It is getting late, I am off to bed. Night night
