I had read somewhere that the Champlin D-13 was complete, done, that they had managed to get around the missing flight computer thing, and actually control the engine correctly. They didn't say they would fly it though, and they didn't say they wouldn't fly it either. I guess we'll have to wait.

White 1 seems to be going along pretty good. Maybe our WIX buddy Pat can give us the word on that bird. I'm interested in what it's status is now in light of the recent news about Reillys.

There was another bird, I want to say it's owned by Don Hansen. I saw some pictures of it. They are over a year old now, I think. It has to be very close. It had some FlugWerk components in it, and it looked great.

Theres the FlugWerk bird. Very close to finished. Once thats done and everything is learned about the complete build of it, the time to build follow on birds should be a lot shorter than the original.

Theres gotta be more.

I'm with you Wolerine, someones gotta be real close. I'd fly out to see it when it happens.

Well, as long as we're on the topic...

Has anyone seen Rudy Frasca's project lately?

Just for a bit of information the Champlin 190 is on display at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. It is actually on loan and is not part of the sale that brought so many other fine Champlin planes to the Museum of Flight

White 1 is now at Goss Hawk Unlimited in Arizona where Champlin's 190 was restored. If you go to the home page here on the WRG you will see Chuck Gardner's report about Black 3 which is at the White 1 Foundation's shop in Kissimme. Also check www.preservedaxisaircraft.com. Mikael has a very nice site there with all kinds of FW 190 survivor info.

I have been out to Gosshawk several times and have seen White 1 but there has been little visible progress on the bird. I will be sure to get pics when there is something interesting to report. I heard through several Gosshawk employees that Champlin has stated that as long as he owns the D-13 it will NOT fly.
