SBD in Sydney for sale?

Thu Dec 16, 2004 7:11 pm

I was just having a nosey around on barnstormers and found an ad for an SBD Dauntless project for sale or trade (Most Recent Warbird, Page 3,the ad before the B-29 tail turret for sale) located in Sydney Austrailia. I did not know there were any over there. If this is for real what condition is it in? This is one for Setter maybe.....

AHHHH........I see.

Sooo......does he have enough to be considered a viable project?

Kinda interesting.....all of the railing against the "greedy" folks and their warbird prices,,,,,,and wanting to trade an SBD project for a Spitfire or P40 project.......It would have to be extremely viable to equal those expectations.....

I honestly wish him luck and I hope it is viable. The SBD is my favorite airplane and it would be cool to see another flyer.

huh... the ad on Barnstormers now says that the SBD project is sold. Interesting. Anyone know who bought it, as I am sure that a friend of mine would be interested in trading parts to them from his own project?

I wonder if this is the same SBD which was recently depicted in a Flypast magazine news item. I also remember Setter mentioning that a second SBD project was in Australia, so maybe this is a different one. In any event the project sold on very quickly! Where did the project come from I wonder. Must have been liberated from So.Pac. I guess... which makes it's restoration an interesting prospect! Good luck to them indeed.

Cheers,
Richard
