44-72051, a P-51D-20-NA, was built to Special Project No. 92948R - it left the U.S. for the ETO on 12th February 1945 - it was delivered via Prestwick to BAD-2 Warton (BAD = Base Air Depot) where it was readied for assignment to an 8th USAAF unit - but it never was ferried to any frontline unit since it was soon selected for delivery to the Swedish AF, delivery date given as 21st April 1945. This aircraft therefore never had seen any assignment to any Frighter Group nor any combat mission.
