Internet Explorer Problems!

I've been running IE 6.0 and suddenly (within the last 5 days) whenever I click my desktop icon for IE I get: "Internet Explorer has experienced a problem and must be shutdown"...then I'm back to desktop. It usually takes about six shots before I can get on the internet. Any suggestions? Thanks...

Scott: I'm running IE 5.1 on my iMac and have the same problems. What I found that seems to correct it for a while, is to do a complete shutdown and then reboot. There are a number of sites that I regularly have need to connect to, that just tear 5.1 a new hole every time I go there. I solved that by running Mozilla for those sites. Even though I've done that as work arounds, problems still crop up too often for my preferences.

I need to upgrade from OS 10 to the latest version for the Mac, but that will cause a train wreck of other upgrades and I really don't want the hassles right now.

Don't know the answer to that question at all. I have heard a bevy of complaints about 7, and we haven't upgraded at work as far as I know. Probably worth checking Kim Komando's website. I think it is komando.com.

I've been running IE 7 on both of my laptops for a year,however,I keep Firefox as my alternate browser.The only problems that I've noticed are that some automatic update programs for 3rd party programs won't recognize IE 7 as a valid Internet connection where they had no problem with IE 6 I'm also not able to download pictures from Fence Check with IE 7.The solution to the Fence Check picture download problem is to use Firefox on that site,which works just fine.The interface for IE 7 is more like Firefox than the older Internet Explorer.As to the 3rd party program updates,they only want to recognize IE 6 or earlier as a valid Internet connection and once you've switched from IE 6 to IE 7,you can't roll back.At least I wasn't able to.I can usually manually check for updates,though,so it really isn't a major issue.

I had a similar problem and now I’m also using Explorer 7 and Firefox as a back up. The upgrade seems to have fixed the problem and to date I’ve never had any issues with Explorer 7 (knock on wood!). As for downloading off Fence Check with IE7, I found some photos you download off the link below the image, not the image itself. As for Firefox, the biggest complaint I have is some sites aren’t formatted for it so the site doesn’t display correctly, functionally it works fine though.

What do mean you can't login? Is there an error, or do you have to log in every time you visit? A good place to start hunting around is in "Options" under the "Tools" menu.

I force all of the machines (40-ish PC's plus another dozen laptops) at Yankee to use Firefox by default. It keeps me from spending my days running around cleaning up little messes caused by someone accidentally clicking the wrong link, or surfing where they shouldn't.

In the 3+ years I've been running the network, I have yet to have a serious spyware or virus issue on the network. I've had a couple bugs get in, but since they rely on vulnerabilities in IE to execute, the virus ends up just sitting in a temp folder until the anti-virus scan nukes 'em. The same for goes for spyware. The only times I use IE now are when I absolutely have to.

Firefox is everything you could ever want in a web browser. It will do anything for you, even remember your passwords. And you can customize it with all kinds of cool little add-on features.

When I try to Login to WIX using FireFox, I type my username, then password, click submit and flash , I'm back to square one. I can't login for some reason. The "Options" menu has not helped. To get into WIX, I have to use my crippled IE...
