I have a 1/72 Hellcat (MPC, via the old Airfix) that I would love to get rid of.

I can do either wings folded or extended, maybe both.

edit 1: I can also supply an F4F-3 Wildcat, if that will do as an FM-2 substitute; might be able to do 2 pos'n wings as well.

edit 2: also found an A6M-3 in the stash, ready to go.

edit 3: count me in for the Bf 108 as well as a Swordfish (wings either way) if this does get the go-ahead.

Will there be any requirement for an O-2A?

I can build up a C-45 for you (using the Pioneer 2 kit, for those who care). How soon do you need it? Gear up, or gear down? (I'm assuming gear down)

Good luck finding some of those subjects in 1/72 scale. I have a C-131, but it's in some weird-azz "box scale".

Suggestion: Post a sign-up page somewhere on the internet so that folks can see what's being handled and what's still available.

Wow! The reply to this so far has been far quicker than I expected. I'm already behind on this, so y'all bear with me while I catch up.

All models will need to be in the "gear down" configuration, please. I know that some of these models will be difficult, if not impossible to obtain, so I'll just deal with what I get.

I'm not sure how to set up a sign up page (Scott, Ryan? You out there? ), but that sounds like a heck of a good idea!

Oh, and I missed another couple of aircraft in my "wish list." I need a Bell 47 helicopter and a Fairey Swordfish (one with wings spread, one with wings folded). And on these Navy planes, if the models are capable of actually working the wings from the spread to folded positions, that would save a bunch of extra storage space for the models......not that I'm trying to be picky.

Hi Gary,

It could be also a nice computer software, with a optimisation computation to optimize the location of each plane and a nice graphical interface to see the result in 3D.

Kidding but perhaps a good challenge (when I will have some time for personnal project )

well, seeing as that these don't need to be real pretty i'll see if i can come up with an easy way to make my sea furys wings fold. if anyone has any quick tips to do so feel free to let me know.

i've got an old airfix piper cherokee arrow that i guess could substitute sizewise for a navion. let me know if that's okay.

Hmmm, I'm liking the idea of a computer program. It would sure take up less space in the office, huh? Actually, I have used AutoCad in the past to do that sort of thing, but it was extremely crude (since I'd just started my AutoCad classes at the time). However, there is simply no way I'd be able to do it in Cad now...I don't have access to the program and I've basically forgotten everything I learned in class.

So, I'm kind of torn here. On one hand, I like the idea of having the flat black models, but on the other hand, the ease and simplicity (once the initial work is done) of the computer program might make it a better choice.

Would anyone be offended if I took back my request for the models?

I am a AutoCAD drafter and I'd be happy to put together some basic floor plans...if you have some info on the building you could share.

I think the tough part would be drawing each individual A/C accurately without plans or seeing them in person.

Models may be the simplest way to accomplish it. (And I would absolutely love to put one together and send it to you guys)

The more difficult part to write this type of software would be the detection of "collision" or conflict of two plane, (and of course the optimisation of the location of each plane, in the case of create an automatic computation of the "best solution")

For the modelisation of each plane: it doesn't need a very high level of details.
On other side, there are a huge quantity of people building 3D plane for the game Flight Simulator, it could be possible to ask them to use their model.

It could be a very challenging project.

Oh, get us worked up and then call it off.

One semi-important thought: if you decide to go with the model airplanes; builders-- be mindful a scale fidelity. In other words, some models the dimensions are not correct. I'm mainly thinking about height. A few thousandths of an inch wrong in strut height/ wheel diameter can mean a large scale variation at the wing tip. I'm thinking this is a concern because they may need to overlap wings.

Also, if you do go with the models, couldn't you set up a Poll on this forum?
So that potential builders can see what is and is not already taken.
