Wouldn't you just love to see the Poopsie paint scheme on a flying B25 today!
I just love the WWII nose art with a sense of humor and the talent to pull it off.
In the midst of that conflict and combat, the care & attention to the a/c appearance is amazing.

Man oh man does that one bring back memories. I must have more stick time in that airplane than anyone. Of course whn I was in it, I was 14 and just sitting there making airplane noises, but that is besides the point. I did get to fly in it after working on it with a crew from TX. All cool guys.

"Poopsie" may have also been flown by future Gen Robert Knapp. A lifetime resident of Montgomery, AL, a B-25J on static display at Maxwell AFB is currently painted in similar (340th BG) markings to honor him. There is also a chance that the USAF thought the markings were a good idea when he had not flown the plane.

A quick web search shows the original was B-25C 41-13201 and at least two other pilots are associated with it.
I remember meeting Gen Knapp when he was a guest of honor at an Auburn University AFROTC dinner. This would have been around 1987 - I believe he was in his late 80's then and in a wheelchair. Regardless of the paint scheme accuracy, another great American hero flown west.

Those are lovely shots that you have got in there. This is just like those days when we used to paint our babies with all the things we love. I used to spend all the time painting out. That is all we knew to do apart from flying and now I am doing these links.
