Just a thought - if space becomes an issue, why not some of the REALLY small stuff? As in 1/700? Yeah, they'd be tiny, but, just from looking at the website below, a LOT less expensive..

Having spent my share of time on a tug squeezing more airplanes into space that we didn't have, I gotta believe that it would be much more benificial to use the 3D aspect of 1/72 scale. That seems to be the scale most available for most of the types Gary would need. Any smaller and you lose the 3D positives, you might as well use 1D cutouts.

I had mentioned earlier that if this project goes through I have an L-5 i'm willing to part with. However I don't know if I have the patience to build it. Here is a picture of what the kit looks like and if anyone else would be willing to tackle it i'll send it your way.

Just so you know, it looks like we WILL be going forward with the original plan of a 1/72 scale hangar setup. So, models like the L-5 you show there won't need any fancy details...just some flat black paint and the basic appointments (gear, wings, tail, fuselage, etc.)

But we haven't worked out our storage bin for the display just yet, so I'm not sure if now is a good time to start sending stuff. Stay tuned and I'll be sure to keep y'all posted.
And most of all........
THANKS!

Gary
excellent news.
I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I know it will take me at least a few weeks to get around to actually cranking something out, due to the usual other time demands etc... Having said that, is it too early to get a finite list of required aircraft + a sign up sheet? That way us slow pokes can get a head start. If it helps any I'd be happy to compile the info from this thread into a list of aircraft needed vs those who have volunteered with the aircraft in question.
Not trying to rush ya....
cheers

Keeping track of who's building what would be a HUGE help to me, Greg. Thanks for the offer! I'll give you a heads up when we're ready to start the project.

I see no one mentioned the Corsair or the BT-15. If they have not been accounted for I would not mind trying them. As for the Corsair I would assume it would need to be in both configurations (wings down and wings folded)

hello BTB
there is a separate thread going with the list of types required and a sign-up sheet of sorts here:
http://warbirdinformationexchange.org/p ... hp?t=18701
the thread is titled "sign-up sheet for Gary's CAF model hangar project".
The BT-13/15 is listed as #20, and is currently spoken for; I have made a note for Gary regarding the Corsair, Spitfire XIV, and O-2A, but have yet to hear if they are needed or not.
Have a look at the other thread if you'd like to see what is still needed.
thanks!
greg v.
edit: looks like the Corsair is needed after all; please see the "sign-up sheet" thread for further info.
