There is no award named the Congressional Medal of Honor.
It is simply and correctly named the Medal of Honor or simply
MOH.
It's like saying someone won a medal. You don't win it because it not a contest. you' receive it or a awarded it. Suttle differences but important never-the-less. MOH awardee Nicky Bacon though me that!

Beat me to it. He was a great pilot and leader during and after the war. He was also a great friend.

Speaking of the MOH .... I had heard a story long ago about a very modest veteran who had been awarded the MOH and until his death, kept it a secret from his family, friends etc ..... He just never told anyone about it for some reason, quite a shock to his family .... and then there's a few A-holes walking about stating they had "WON" the MOH .... I'd like to know what happens if you claim to have been awarded the MOH and it's found to be untrue .... firing squad? .... Never a shortage of losers on this planet .... Anyway, anyone know about the above story about the modest veteran? ....

How about Canadian ace George "Screwball" Beurling? He had a score of about 29 with most of them on Malta.

Another Ace of Aces.......... Major George Preddy. His notable career cut short by friendly fire, 12/25/1944.

Sorry Elroy but I gottcha here
Sgt John "Tex" Barrick of Sweetwater, Texas scored 5 in the Hurricane before Wade while flying in with 17 Squadron over Burma in 1942 and was awarded the DFM. He passed away a few years ago

I haven't read much about Lance Wade, is there any books that really cover him? And that's not a Hurricane that he is pictured sitting in. Did he acheive all his victories in Hurricanes? Thanks to Lone Star for having the Hurricane restored and painted in his color scheme.

He flew Spits and Hurricanes. Bill you've seen the LSFM Spit, its in Wades colors. Here is a pretty good link to a article on Wade.

http://www.historynet.com/air_sea/aces/3035576.html

"He joined the Royal Air Force in Canada in December 1940. He arrived in Egypt as a Hawker Hurricane Mk I pilot in September 1941, and was posted to 33 Squadron. His first kills were two Fiat CR-42s on the 18th November. He made ace on 24th November, 1941. He began flying Hurricane Mk IIs in April 1942, when he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He had 13 victories as of September 1942."
