At the last of the now defunct Frederick, Maryland airshows, they managed to get 7 TBMs together in honor of the TBM that the Stars & Stripes Wing (an ex-FPL bird) was restoring. Unfortunatley I couldn't witness this as I was at Lamaze classes (!!!) at the Francis Scott Key Mall, which was right under the "turn around" pattern in Frederick. I kept hearing those big radial engines, but couldn't even get to a window to peer out <sigh>.

They had a few good shows at Frederick early on. We were able to see three B-17s in formation at one show: Texas Rangers & Sentimental Journey from the CAF, and Fuddy Duddy from the NWM. Tallichet's B-17 was at the first show, Yankee Lady was at one of the shows as well. The Collings B-17 comes through Frederick separate from the airshows....so all told, I've seen 6 out of the 14 flying B-17s...that's not too bad of a batting average. The CAFs B-29 and LB-30 went through, although both had to fly out of Martinsburg, WV because Frederick's runways were too short to accomodate them.

The later year shows (post 2000) declined...one year there were no B-17s and they became more vehicle-oriented than airplane oriented. Then the airport owner gave them the boot. They tried to do a show in Martinsburg, but that fell through. There's still a nice show in Manassas in October, though.

Hmmm,

I just want to be able to go this year,
If one airplane shows up that would be O.K.
I just want to go back to the "Cornfield"

Just for starters, how 'bout the P-47 from the American Airpower museum, escorted by their P-40 and the Corsair "Skyboss."

Count me in for Club 21 (if I can find it). There's a bunch of us coming up from LI. Like the Col., we are counting the days!

Hmmmm, lets see… for sentimental sake I would love to see the NWM Fuddy Duddy back on Geneseo turf along with the Fighter Factory P-40 Warhawk. Founding member, Dr. Bill Anderson, flew a P-40 out of Geneseo for many years and one has not returned since Dr. Bill’s P-40 crash. This is a wish that has a very good possibility of happening especially with this year being the 25th consecutive year an airshow has been held at Geneseo. The name of the airshow will also officially change to the Geneseo Airshow from the History of Flight Airshow. As far has having a dream show I will again be sentimental with having a B-17 gathering in memory of the great 1988 airshow at Geneseo. Last but not least it would be great to see all of the flyable CWH aircraft on the field as it was their visits in the early 80s that helped create an airshow at Geneseo.

Other then that I’m very happy with the last few years, not to big, not to small, just the right size and lots of flying. I hope to see all of you there and have a beer at Club 41.

Cheers,

Eric

How about the Fighter Factory's Collection all up for the show
That would be a sight!

I'd really love to see B-17s gather there again.

Someone needs to pull the B-17s together, where better the Geneseo! And if they are all together they need to fly together and form up for a few passes.

P-38s, P-39, P-40s, P-47s, P-51s (someday a P-61) would make for a fun show also.

If we have another very wet year the Duck may be the only a/c at the show

I would also like to see a P-38 fly, haven't seen that yet either. And of course to meet as many WIXers as possible.

How about a "CAT FLight" from the POF Airshows Group, They have a F4F, F6F, and a new cat family member soon to be announced, plus they have an A-26 Invader you are talking about, and you can get a pair of P-47 for a special price. And that Corsair "Marine's Dream" has never been there before. and do not forget they have a P-38 Lightning they could bring as well.

Scott, here's a sneak-preview of an Invader video I'm currently putting together:

And here's how an Invader fly-by sounds like:

and another one

Not like experiencing it yourself, but close... 8)

Nice, the old Dennis Bradley machine. Dennis and Jamie did some nice shows in that machine and it is greatly missed in these parts.

Hi RR/Eric/etc...

Gennie hopes and wishes:

1. All that stuff with roundels on it. There are now (in theory at least) three Spits, two Hurricanes, a Swordfish, a Firefly, a Fury or two and a Lancaster available in the general area. The Lanc, especially, would be a welcome returnee. And of course it goes without saying that one can never have enough Furies on one's Warbird line. (Maybe Sandy T could be cajoled into painting his Skyfury in RCN livery for the occasion!)

2. Hitting the "max" button on the time machine...a 70s Mt.Hope-style "Mustang Roundup". There must surely be a dozen or more 51s in the region? (Sadly we have not even one flying 51 in Canada now).

3. Replicate the '91 bomber lineup...but toss in the CAF Lib and B-29 too.

4. Sneak the MATS Connie back out of Seoul...

5. Gather some racers (eg. F2G Race 57; Fury "Miss Merced" etc) and have the inaugural "Geneseo NAR"! Get some prewar racer replicas too, like the beautiful Howard "Ike" from Willow Run...

6. For a few years hence...something fast and wooden, with two V12s. :D

Come on July...

S.

Ha! I knew it!

I see that I'm not missing much by opting for Legends this year as not one of you wishes to see a wee Focke-Wulf!

I got the message!

      :P

No pity from me, your going to England just so you don't have to give Rob a ride.
