obviously down from the tsunami / earthquake in south east asia. i believe the site's creator / webmaster lives in that region. i am in fairly frequent contact with him & i've collaborated with him on a number of contributions to the site. i just emailed him a few days ago & no reply as of 1/1/05. will keep all posted. happy new year, tom

thanks for the enlightenment. wow for a kid from upstate new york how the hell does he afford the frequent trips to that area of the world??? it takes big bucks $$$$$$!!!! as well as good planning & good government connections, not to mention some regions are so remote & much of indonesia is inaccessible to americans & europeans in general. they keep tight borders, something we should have done after 9/11. take care, tom

Pacific Wrecks details

Hi all,

Yes, the site is up. It sometimes has 'bandwith' problems, as to many viewers go to the site each day. The site is a free site, supported by donations only. For details, visit:
http://www.pacificwrecks.com/

I am originally from Hyde Park, New York USA - FDR hometown and Rhinebeck Aerodrome nearby. I have been lucky enough to travel to the pacific a few times over the years, first with my grandfather (a wwii vet) in 1993. That got me interested in the topic. Now, i save my pennies and try to travel over there once every year or two if possible. Here is a page about me, if interested, or feel free to drop me a line:

Personally, I have never had any problems traveling, often I am told I am the first American they have seen since WWII ! For them, WWII history is still very much in the forefront of life - stories from elders and lore.

If anyone is ever interested in traveling over to that part of the world, drop me a line.

Best,
