I think he was referring to the view of the propellor itself in the first photo, in which it looks like the blades could be damaged. Personally I think it is the wear pattern on the paint that makes the blades look irregular.

I guess a foot or two closer to the centreline and the entire tail unit might have come off? No wonder the pilot has a strange expression on his face...
