This was 44-32798, an ex Venezuelan airplane that was given the to Peruvians as a display aircraft. The airframe was in really bad shape and had considerable corrosion. It has been purchased and moved to the Hill Aerospace Museum in Utah for static restoration.

While we are on the subject of P-47's, didnt Kermit Weeks recently obtain a P-47? If so which one?

I'd only have it a few minutes though because then I'd have a nice P-47

thanks Tim. The people at the Hill Aerospace Museum have to be comended for their nice acquistions over the past several years. A B-24, a P-38, a B-26 and now a P-47. A great collection of planes is getting better all the time! Too bad the folks at the NASM could not go out and find a B-24 with the same vigor as Hill Aerospace Museum did!

Tim, do you know what happened to P-47 45-49452? Within the last 8 months or so someone here on the WIX said it was sitting in a lot somewhere near Davis-Monthan in Tucson and was for sale. I was curious if anyone had purchased it.

I believe you will find that the aircraft long quoted as 45-49452 is actually 44-32798. The paint scheme it wore when on display in Las Palmas, Peru was that of FAP 450, which was 49452. A couple of major publications reported the Peru example as 49452 and I think that is where most of the confusion lies. The guys at Hill say it is definately 37298 (if you look at the picture of when it was on display in Peru and then at the photos of it in Tuscon you can see that it has the same funky tail wheel).

One of our guys went to look at it when we were in Tucson. That airframe is full of corrosion and is going to be a huge project when undertaken. With that issue and the selling price, I am sure it will sit there for awhile.

Does / Can anyone say what P-47s are going to be at the show? Or do we have to wait a bit longer. The web page hasn't been updated in a while, I know this because I check it 4-5 times a week.
