Have a look at Courtesies website, looks like H&P is getting rid of some of their fleet. They have listed (3)C-97's,(2)C-118,(1)L-18,(2)PB4Y,(2)C-119, (2) P2V, and some helicopter.

Regretfully all of the PB4Ys are temporarily grounded, but I suppose a rebuilder could convert 1 to a B-24..

I thought that the US Forest Service simply refused to hire them anymore. I am not aware of anything from the FAA that would prevent the PB4Ys from flying.

Maybe I'm wrong. It might be a good idea to check out the latest and greatest on the FAA stuff.

It would be nice to see a Privateer fly as a Privateer, I always liked the USN paint schemes.

That would be excellent. While it's not in this lot, I believe Hawkins & Powers has a fairly stock PB4Y in storage.

As for flying PB4Ys, the only action I'm aware of the FAA can take is through AD's. The only AD out for the entire Liberator/Privateer series is 2003-08-13, which requires a repetative inspection(the interval of which is left out of the AD) of front spar, front spar web, and lower skin.

So on the topic, how is the Long Star one coming. I've been waiting sense 97 to see one in the air. Anyone have some info? I have sent a couple e-mails over the years but no really good news yet, just in work which is better then doing nothing). I can't wait to see one in the air!

I've still got space in the back 40, Rob, for however many airframes as we can stuff in, at least until winter really gets here(?). Although, I suppose we can just retract the gear and haul them in with dogs!

And was the KC-97 ever a Dow or Loring bird?

The H&P place has always been a nice out of the way stop in Greybull on the way to Jackson!

One of the owners has a nicely restored A-20 if I remember right - we have tried and tried to get them to bring it to our annual airshow but have never gotten a response other than, "I'll ask Mr so-and-so if he is interested in coming" then nothing.

Hill AFB has a really pretty Kaman restored to SAR/firefighting trim.

Rob, that would be a sight to see all three flying along!

all thats needed is a ERCO nose turret, emerson tail turret(?), fabricated waist blisters, and paint!! Oh, and .8M. dang.

BDK - nope, your right, the A-26 is the beast I was thinking of. I wish they'd get interested in going to air shows. I mean really, Wendover is practially in thier backyard

Heh, here is one of the few decent shots I managed to get of it the last time they brought it up to St. Paul. It has a USAAF paint scheme on the left side, and a civilian scheme on the right side.
