UFO Canopy Parts

Very heavy aluminum, like they held tempered glass. Look NOS, but the steel hardware holding them together is rusted. Any clues?

Top section from P-51A/B/C or P-38 perhaps? Very cool....

I suspect your first guess is correct Jim. The P-38 is a rear hinge not a side hinge.

I was personally hoping they were P39, but oh well, I'll just have to take my lumps and label them P51A,B,C. I will get some better pics today, after I get the shipping out. Sorry for the poor quality- bad digital photo day.

I was up at Tri-State this weekend and made it a point to look at the P-51 A through C canopies. They have corner gussets on the top piece....so Helldivers could be right.

Sounds like a good 1940's thriller! Thanks John! I have since found out that this type of canopy was also used on PT26's, re Steve Dennis.

Ooops John,

Just getting a chance to try and catch up on the WIX (been busy lately), and I saw this post.

I guess in the course of our discussion the other day I mislead you, as this part is definitely NOT useable on a Fairchild built PT-26 canopy.

What I meant to say was that it looked a lot like the top panel on a Rawdon canopy that were put on a lot of PT's (aftermarket conversion). But the real expert when it comes to Rawdon stuff is Brad Pilgrim, as I gave him most of my Rawdon parts to be used in his project, and I don't have one in the shop to look at anymore. I do think though, that Mike is probably right. P-38.

Sorry about the confusion..... :oops:

I am still working on those Fairchild parts for you, but I work slow.... :lol:

P.S. Brad, if you're reading this, I do have a few more small Rawdon bits for you.
