If you give me a heads up next time you're in the area, I might be able to get you in the hangar for a few pictures and a "tour". Sometimes Dave Goss has some interesting things in there.

Randy, I finally got a chance to talk to Dave Goss today about TF-660. He said it's been maintained and stored here for almost 20 years and is staying here until/when/if the present owner ever sells it. It is indeed getting intercom work done right now and is undergoing an annual. It's flown at least once a month to keep it in shape. The last time Dave asked the owner about it going to England, he was told (rather pointedly...) that it was not going anywhere. Hope that helps. I'm at GossHawk an average of one week a month so if I can answer any other questions for you, please let me know.

Doesn't that owner also own "Ho Hun"?

I believe that is how it is registered but I don't think Bill Hane has ever actually owned the TF.

Bill Hane does not own the TF. I think the confusion came from the fact that he was, at one time, one of two pilots that flew the TF on a regular basis. He does own Ho Hun. At this time, Ralph Rina is the only one (as far as I know) that flies the TF.

I just called one of the GossHawk guys. He said that if it's going to the UK, it's news to him. He doesn't think it will in any event because of the UK's "tax everything" mentality. The owner doesn't want to have that expense on top of everything else. If I hear anything to the contrary, I'll post it here.

Not sure I understand that reasoning unless the current owner is British. The Brits can't tax a US owner selling anything in the US to someone in the UK... They can, and do, tax the purchaser of course, if they are a British taxpayer, and actually import the aircraft into Britain under British registration.

Just curious about the logic there. In any event, I look forwards to seeing her flying soon.

Cheers,
Richard

The current owner is indeed British, hence the concern about taking the TF to England.

I think the confusion comes from the fact that if you do an N-number search on the airpalne Bill Hane comes back as the registered owner.

I can understand the confusion! I met the actual owner and he is indeed British and lives in England. Having Bill listed as the owner in the US may be something to do with the current British tax situation. I'll see if I can get more info for you.

That makes perfect sense then... sorta! Why buy the aircraft though if you don't want to import it? Investment perhaps? Aircraft prices do seem to have been on a precipitous rise in recent years... though it looks like they will plateau for a while as the economy is flattening a bit at present.

Cheers,
Richard

I didn't think an English person could actually register an aircraft in America unless they had an American address, hence why a good number of N registered aircraft in England are registerd to trusts based in America, another way around it would be for someone else to register it in America (in the same way as this has been done) but the 'owner' lives in England.....
