This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Much as I'd love to see a Mossie fly again, or RAFM's Halifax returned to new condition...I have to go with a personal favourite:
Hawker Sea Fury FB.11, WG567, NX878M. One of two RCN Furies still flying (the other is N232MB). After acquisition by me, she regains her rightful powerplant and the correct number of prop blades; then it's off to Sky Harbour for an every-stencil-in-place refinish in her 1952-period RCN double-grey as NAVY:133. Then, since I've run out of cash, she goes to the Shearwater museum on loan until I can afford to put her on the circuit...
Somebody else already mentioned an F2G. May I nominate the ex-Walt Soplata bird? Would looove to see that flying in formation (or competition!) with Bob Odegaard's...
Cheers

Would have to go with the Queen of the Midnight skies, the P-61. I cannot seriously wait till one gets up in the air for all of us to finally see!

Only one answer to this question. A P-38 Lightning, painted up as #5000, "Yippee"!

The PBM from VP-74 that my uncle commanded. Nearly blown out of the water in a surface battle with one of the two U-Boats they sunk off of Coco Solo.

You want to operate an Me-163?
Methinks a different engine is called for, perhaps out of an Aim-54 Phoenix?

NASMs B-17D "The Swoose"
It looks like the NASM won't get to it for a long while, so why shouldn't I be able to do it?

Yes. We are talking hypthetical situations here, after all. I would just be glad to see this one restored to a presentable condition. However, since we are in the realm of "what if", yes, it would probably require a different engine to operate in the civilian world as the fuels are simply too volatile. These men might just have the proper substitute:

Well, the restrictions cut out my uncle's F-7B (B-24J) "Hi-Priority Stuff", and there's not enough of a P-43 available to qualify, so... Douglas B-18! A homely old bird with the reliable heart of a DC-3, and half a dozen of 'em left so at least ONE deserves to fly again.
