Yesterday, I visited the Windsor, Ontario airport and also the Jackson Park in the same city.
The following shots, show a couple of Chipmunks, a scaled-down Mustang, a Fleet, a Stearman, and of course, the Lancaster, plus a T-33.
The Spit and the Hurricane are both fiberglass and sit at the park where the Lancaster used to be displayed.

Great pics!
Looks like they're making progress on the Lanc..it's great to see her out of the weather and getting some TLC. I didn't realize she was open to the public..I'll have to check her out next time I'm in Windsor. Isn't somebody in Windsor building a Mossie from scratch?

Yes, they are building a Mosquito. I just forgot to re-size and post a couple of photos.
AFAIK, the Lancaster project is NOT open to the public.
I happened to be very lucky, and in addition my Texas license plate and a couple of guys there with really nice disposition, allowed me to see the Lancaster.

For anyone who's interested, the Canadian Historic Aircraft Association is hosting the CWH Lancaster on July 26-27, along with maybe some other warbirds. The focus of the event is to have FM212 and the CWH Lanc displayed together outside. I don't know too much more about the event, but it will definitely be something WIX-ers in the Ontario-Michigan-Ohio area might want to check out.

Wow, two Lancs in the same place at the same time! I like the sounds of that.
And Tulio, thanks for posting more of your pictures. The shots of the Lanc are really interesting. By the way, did you get a good look at the wing connecting points on the Lanc? It looks like there are two spars in the wings and with each spar there are two connecting bolts each? Was that all the held the wings on?
Can anyone out there fill me in on the connect points for the Lanc wings?
Cheers,
David McIntosh

Your correct 4 large bolts held the out winngs on 4 on the front spar and 4 on the rear spare. Actually you can remove a lancs outer wing with only removing 2 front and 2 rear bolts...
The significance of the CWH lanc and FM212 appearing together is that they are sister aircraft in that they followed each other down the assembly line together. FM212(windsors lanc) and FM213(kb976) CWH baby.

Hey Peter,
thanks for the insight into the Lancaster's wing bolts. But, I'm a little confused by your comment about how you're able to remove the wings despite only removing 4 of the 8 wing bolts. Do you mind telling me how that works?
And by the way, that's really neat about getting FM212 and FM213 together. If you're going to be there you've really got to get some pictures of them together and post them on here.
Thanks again,
David

David,
I am afraid that I did not pay attention to the attachment points for the Lancs wings. : (
Sorry.

No worries Tulio.
If I was confronted with the massive glory of a Lancaster and I wasn't thinking about wing attachment points I don't think I would have made them a point to remember.

David

David it is kind if hard to describe without pics but here goes. The front and rear spars of the outer wings are connected to the inboard front and rear spar bu a butt joint and there are plates that are installed on the rear face of the front spar joint at the top and bottem and also on the front face of the rear spar on the top and bottem. I believe you only have to remove the outboard top and bottem bolts on both the front and rear spare and the wing can be removed.

David, Peter:
Although not specifically targeting the wing attachment points, I believe that these two shots will be of some help for you.

David I almost forgot about the spar web attachment plates that fit in between the top and bottem spar booms. They are attached with 14 bolts and will also have to come off.
Peter
Ps
Nice pics Tulio
