The TV show "South Park" on Comedy Central at 10pm last night? Read on-- it actually has warbird content here-- The kids heard about "Cheesing" where they could get high by annoying a cat until it "marked" them with urine, right in the face... Stupid concept(hang on- almost there).
Only Kenny tried it, and the show went into his delusional world with him... He was zooming through an odd universe in a whacked out rocket powered '70s Trans Am, with a very well equipped, Nordic looking blonde, in a heavy metal get-up.
Kyle's dad got possession of cats made illegal to fight it, then tried it himself- having been a ten year reformed "cheeser"(Ok- you have been waiting for this part) When they showed his delusional state, where Kenny had been driving a whacked out Trans-Am, Kyle's Dad's delusional vehicle was a B-17!(I think it was a G model, but it caught me by surprise) Very well drawn, in the heavy metal style of cartooning, as opposed to their normal style... And Kyle's dad had the A-2, Mae West, parachute harness and crush cap! It was a real interesting episode!
I don't usually watch "South Park", but will on occasion, and last night I was too lazy to change stations, and saw this one; which was really neat because of the B-17...

Yeah, the scenes where almost straight out of the movie "Heavy Metal"
I was hoping Cpt. Stern would make an entrance!
Other Cartoons with Warbirds in them that I know of:
American Pop - ME-109's
Thundar the Barbarian - Helldiver
Grave of the Fireflies - B-29's
Rex Steele - Corsair
Macross Zero - Tomcats and Migs
Any others?

There was also a recent episode of King of the Hill in which Hank is having a moral dilema and has a dream that he is in a B17 with Tom Landry (his idol) at the controls with Abe Lincoln operating the top turret. Not as well drawn as the South Park Episode but other than the top turret not being accurate the cockpit looked pretty much like a B17 Cockpit.
The episode dealt with Arlen banning Trans Fat foods and had Hank operating a mobil food truck to protest the ban.

South Park actually covers a lot of today's issues. Believe it or not, if your not up to speed with what's going on in society today, you won't get a lot of what they talk about. So see, it's the thinking man's cartoon...sorta
I was quite surprised with how well the B-17 was drawn. What was the name on the nose? Wasn't it "'something' Princess"?

If it works, there is a link below to the South Park episode... It is between 3:20 and 4:15(minutes on the sider) You can just slide the slider over to skip the stuff before it... There is a little more of Kyle's dad in his A-2, etc. walking along behind the heavy metal chick, up around 6 minutes... In case you're interested

Here is the scene from Heavy Metal with the B-17
They used Rotoscoping to come up with the B-17 sequence by filiming a model of the B-17 and then animating over it.
