Tulio,
Thank you for those pictures, they really help with visualizing how the attachment points are set up.
And Peter,
Thank you for the input as well. Should I assume there are also a significant amount of fairings to be removed too, before you can even access the wing bolts?
A lot of questions about wing attachments eh? It's as if I'm planning on removing some wings, isn't it? hahaha... Sadly I don't have a Lancaster.
Thanks again guys!

Hello Dave.
Anyone not knowing would think you were restoring a lanc or something. Yes there are a few panels that need to be removed to gain access both on top of the wing and underneath as well. They are fastened with hundreds of small bolts which are fun to remove....
Dave there is also a good photo here showing some of the panels that have to be removed. You can see the long panel from leading to trailing edge that has to be removed to gain access to the mounting bolts.

Hey Peter,
That's a great shot of the fairings. I just got on the topic of the wing attachments because I've been involved in taking the Canadian Museum of Flight's Lockheed Lodestar's wings off twice and was curious how similar or different the Lancaster was to the Lodestar.
Thanks again.
Cheers,
David

Dave.
I forgot all about that. How is the restoration going??
Sun Mar 30, 2008 6:35 pm
That's a very good question. It's not often I get out to the museum since I've been so busy, but I do what I can from home with work on the Newsletter, and fundraising.
As for the Lodestar restoration that is being done out at Abbotsford Airport, well, I'm also curious as to how that restoration is going.
I haven't heard much about it, but I'll look into it and post something on the CF-TCY Lodestar thread.
Cheers,
David

Steve,
A guy from a hangar nearby, was nice enough to escort me during the visit, and I knew that he was busy working on the Chipmunk (the one with the cowling removed), so I did not want to abuse his hospitality.
Trust me, in other circumstances, I would have asked to be allowed to see the interior, at a minimum from the access hatch.

You're welcome, guys. My pleasure to share the pix with y'all.

Glyn,
The three photos following that of the RR Merlin engine, are the Mosquito's.
The angles were not really good, and these are the best I could get.
Saludos,
Tulio
