I'll consider it..

Hey Mr. Rohr:

Wow..Hey there. Don't take it personally. Ask yourself why I'd react that way?

Paper work? We need no paperwork! I just bring alot of pesos or what ever and say you loadie metal in truck , Ok. They say see or whatever and she is gone. It is better to beg for forgiveness than ask permission anyway when they figure it out your long gone.

Broken Wrench, for once I'd agree with you. You'll have a strong ally if you talk that way.

Let's not be bullies now. Everyone has the god-given right to make their own mistakes, or not. Both of your positions are clear on this subject. I keep looking at these threads hoping to find new info, but much of it is not constructive in my opinion. Can't we all just get along?

Spot on BK..its getting a bit tiresome to say the least. One way will probably succeed and one will probably fail...... lets hear the result when its done, so we know who to cheer and who to boo

Rob's made his point, people are welcome to take it or leave it at thier discretion. So lets all just get along.

Rob, don't take it personally. You made your point and gave your advice. People can use it or ignore it, thier choice.

Harv4, your not the villian. You have your opinions and since its your butt on the line then it's your choice to heed advice or not. Just remember, Southeast asian jails seldom have broadband or cable (you need to got jail in the U.S. for that)

Funny, I'm not too sure if Norwegian jails got that either. They probarbly give you 3 to 5 years, and a 28k modem...

...28K???? Do you mean, I can get an Upgrade if I go to prison??? Who

Chris

Can I suggest something else?

Mind you, it's the way I do it, and it might not be suitable for you but here goes.

As anyone who knows me knows , I like the research and discovery part best. If I can show a modest profit from my endeavours , then fantastic, as long as I don't lose any money :D

In countries I have dealt with , my approach is always "I am here to photograph and log , I'm not recovering"

(I'm not, but some nice men in Fort Worth will be getting on the phone to you once I show them the piccies) :D

I enjoy research, I love the discovery part, no matter how uncomfortable it is, or how big the bloody midges are

I have had a great time discovering and helping facilitate recoveries.

A potential recoverer , ie a man or woman with the money and will to make it happen , invariably wants a guy on the ground , preferably the guy who found it , and who has already done the legwork, and who is above all , switched on and discrete That can be you

Ok, it's not yours to recover and restore, but do you really want to get that heavily financially involved?

That's just my thoughts, as I say , it may not be for you Chris, but hey, at least you won't lose money/end up in Jail/Be an extra in Midnight Express in Sulawesi

But, as always , best of luck whatever you do Fella :D

Kind regards

Tony

Gentlemen

Perhaps this will only be settled through a Duel?

Might I suggest pistols at dawn? Maybe to keep it Warbird related it should be Browning .50 cals at dawn? :D Just try and do 10 paces with a quik turnaround and shoot.  Might accidently take out a few spectators. Ooops.

:minigun: .................... :snipe:

Only kidding guys. Just trying to bring a little levity to the conversation

I know this has nothing to do with anything, but I have to rant, so I hope yall will forgive me. I just got back from the war and I'm pretty tired. This trip was not a good one and I'm just in a bad mood so.....Here goes.....

Ya know, using the word Cowboy in this context just bugs me to no end. I've never understood it! I come from a long line of cowboys and have been one myself in the past. In fact, if I hadn't gotten into military aviation, I might be a cowboy for a living. I hear the news media and other misguided people use "Cowboy" when they are talking about the way President Bush does stuff. (I'm not defending what he does, just complaining about the use of the word. Although I do love the man.) Nobody who actually knows any real Cowboys would ever use that word in a derogatory way. I'm not knocking on you Rob...I don't think there is a whole lot of Cowboys up in your neck of the woods so you wouldn't know any better. :D :D

Chris, I don't know you. But, you should be proud to be called a Cowboy. It's a compliment, although most people don't know that. My Grand Dad was a Cowboy and if your being compared to him, be thankful. He was a great man!

That being said, I've been to Indonesia and a couple of other places around that part of the world. Make sure your insurance is paid up! Personally, I wouldn't go there looking for anything!

Thanks, End of Rant!

Rob is the loudest, but louder doesn't mean more factual or more experienced.
