Murray Griffiths first flying P40 - Photos

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all

I am in the process of uploading 100 of Tony Andrews shots of p40E "Little Jeannie" owned and flown by Murray Griffiths on my webshots account.

http://community.webshots.com/user/setter125

This is one of two P40s flying in Australia along with Col Pays recently flown example - soon to be joined by Judy Pays(no relation) P40F - the worlds one Merlin engined airworth example.

There are 100 shots as a sort of photo essay and it will take another hour or so to complete so please be patient.

John,

How far is Wangarratta from Richmond RAAFB? I'm supposed to be heading down that way pretty soon. We tend to stay at the Holiday Inn at Penrith. Love the casino!

Hi Brad

About 5-6 hours drive and you go past Canberra (AWM) and Temora Museum on the way - If you are up to the drive and have time I would do it.

Just looked at the P-40 photos. It looks very nice. Kinda like the white tail, and leading edges. Although as a kid I loved the Flying Tigers paint job, I am happy to see something without a shark mouth for a change. While at it I looked at the B-25 photos. Guess you wasn't too happy to see it go. Why did they get rid of it?

Browsed by your P-51 shots as well. Enjoyed the photo of VH-IVI in the civilian colors. Have seen a b/w of it before, but that was pretty cool. You wouldn't have any of the late Ron Flockart's two Mustangs safely tucked away in yur matress, now would you???

Thanks for sharing by the way!

Notice something. It does not have any gear doors fitted...I was in Coolangatta for the first flight.

Hi Oscar

Common here in Aus neither did Col Pays first one - I din't know why - perhaps there is an issue here?
