Brian, if you'll send me a PM with your address I'll send you a DVD of the show. I know the folks at Pioneer Productions promised us all the raw footage, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Brian,

When you get ahold of Steve, see if you can talk him into bringing his Sea Fury out to the Airshow in June! I also hear he may be interested in aquiring a TBM. Oh yea, I may be coming out to Olympia the first or second week of February so I don't think I'll make it to the Warbird Conference.

Well, be dang sure they're actually women this time! You've made that mistake before....I tried to tell you she had an adam's apple!

I'll be skiing in Idaho while your off in L.A. So I'll probably drop by that next week. I'm supposed to meet Bud and all them up in Canada at the NWCAS meeting the 11th and 12th. Seems that I've been chosen to be the "guest entertainment" at the Saturday meeting.

Back on the mention of the Cobra helo's, actually you may see a lot more of them in civilian hands some day, as they are now being used with the USDA Forest Service and Dept. of Natural Resources, with eleven of them registered so far. Currently used for firefighting duties, down the road, like the air tankers, maybe they might end up in civilian hands some day? The paint schemes are in orange/red and white, along with green, blue and white so far...........

Those Cobras you speak about will never go civilian. I know the U.S. Dept of Ag/ Forest Service has a bunch along with Florida and Washington for Fire Fighting. These are actually on loan to these agencies for fire use only. When they are done with them they must be returned to the DOD for disposal and or scrapping. These are classified as Gun Platforms even after being modified for firesand this puts them in the same category as an F-15. These ships are on what is called "Perpetual Loan". They cannot be sold or traded. Unless you get an act of Congress like Collings did on the F-4 Phantom. Our ship is a training Cobra and classified as a trainer for release purposes. There were only 9 of these ever built. Also you cannot build one from parts any longer as the FAA will certify them without an FAA title and DOD transfer. Some have already been confiscated. Cobras are a touchy subject with the government. A foriegn one may be possible if you could get it imported and get BATF approval but these are still front line for many forign countries and if they were aquired by FMS they can never be imported by agreement.

Steve, I got a box full of VHS tapes from England today!

Thanks for the heads up on the Cobras, one could only hope. I remember some years ago a dealing where some C-130's were traded as firetankers for a few museum planes, of course people went to jail afterwards.

I saw a couple AH's at the Reno Air Races a few years ago. They were neat machines. I guess I'll guess I'll just have to settle for seeing the current Cobra's at air shows out here.

I also received a box of VHS tapes, containing all the "out takes" of the film shoot. Most enjoyable. I especially like the in camera video of Tim Brutsche, who was lead on that flight. Brutsche is heard asking his GIB to keep an eye on the break to final, or as he puts it..."Mildred, please don't let me F*ck this up". A pure Hopper moment...
