Lefty Gardner's Last Airshow?

Tue Jan 18, 2005 10:00 pm

A letter writer in this month's Pacific Flyer stated that Edwards 97 was Lefty Gardner's last show in the P-38. Is this true or did he fly others later?

I have pictures of White Lightning in the air at the Highland Lakes CAF Air Show on 4/8/00 (Burnett, TX). I believe Lefty was flying but I'm not sure. If he was flying, it might not count as an official airshow act. More like having fun at considerably higher altitudes than most acts I've seen. He also made a few passes over the field. The plane looked great and I'm glad I got few decent photos for my collection.

I know it's been asked and discussed on this board and there has been speculation but if you check the White Lightning web site it confirms it. As of January 12th, White Lightning, the P-38 we all know and love, has been sold to Red Bull.
