I found a reference to a F-84 in Syracuse. Are there any pole mounted (or otherwise) warbirds in this central New York town? If so where? Any directions?

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

At the reserve base in Syracuse there is a F-94B, F-86(H?) maybe more. You can see them from the front gate but not close enough for a picture. There is not public access to them.

Oriskany I hear there is an A-4, I have not checked that out.
Rome has a B-52G on display
There is (going to be) an A3D on display near Amsterdam.

Any others? I’m sure some VFW Posts have some.

There is a B-36 on display at the old Plattsburg AFB.

Plattsburgh has a B-47E and a FB-111A.

If I missed a B-36 I'm leaving work NOW and driving up!

Mike H posted some pictures. I have a dozen I took this past summer my self.

I had a few references to Warbirds in Syracuse. It sounds like they are offlimits to Joe Public. Oh well.

Huh? I lived in that area for more than 19 years (ok, ok, 10 of which I didn't know about airplanes 'cause I was too young) and have people in the area that know the area well and I have never heard of anything like this. You sure that you are thinking of the right area?

Closest I know of is an F-86 at an Amvets post in Manchester/Shortsville, NY not far South of the NYS Thruway (off an exit).

Back in the late 60's early 70's the was a P-47N at that same AMVETS post that was moved and replaced by the F-86. You could climb on up, slide the canopy back and play Jug pilot to your heart's content. Nobody cared.

Ya, There is a guy just up the highway from Elmira that has a pile of helicopters in his yard. If you take the hwy north to Rochester out of Elmira you will see an old Hughes Cayuse helicopter mounted on a hill beside the road. Take the first off ramp north of the helicopter and you will find the place.

I had the photos posted one time on my site but they have been removed.

I hear the NMUSAF took it and were going to place it at Ellsworth but it was too far gone to be put back together. Any conformation?

It didn't look that bad last fall, although it could use a coat of paint.

The B-47E was still in Plattsburgh this summer and fall.

My question is what happened to the B-47 at Pease AFB in NH? That seemed to be in really bad shape, as was the KC-97.

The B-29 & B-52 seemed a bit better.

There is indeed an A-4E in Oriskany, New York. There is a small park there with the A-4E on open display. It is in pretty good shape, as with most aircraft on outside display it has had all openings sealed, in the colors of an aircraft from the USS Oriskany.
