RAAF Tocumwal Disposal Pics

Hi team!
Finally got around to scanning a pile of Box Brownie B&W pics taken at the RAAF's disposal site at Tocumwal,NSW in about 1959/60.
Unfortunately many of these airframes were cut up for the scrap value.
Just about makes ya cry doesn't it (especially that Beaufighter TT in the background of the Wirraway A20-204 pic)..

The pics were scanned from very small (cigartte card) sized prints.

Quite right too
Tatty old planes - cut em up and make the missus some nice saucepans I say!!!!
Yes very sad but at least some survived and live on!!!

Hi John,
I have a few more Toc' pics although I'd don't think they are as good as the ones I have put up on Webshots.
I also have a few Beaufort pics from the Wagga disposals although they are not of a high quality.
I've just added a great shot that I have had in my collection for many years of a a Spit Vc. I'd be interested if anyone can identify the location as I also have a pic of a Mosquito taken at the same disposals yard (you can just see them behind the Spit. I always thought that it may have been taken at Richmond (as that's where I came by the negatives) although I'm not too sure.
I'd love to hear you thoughts!

Hi Browny.
The photo is unlikely to be taken at any of the aircraft killing fields (Tocumwal, Wagga, Oakey) as A58-211 ended its career in a rather unusual manner.
It was issued to Royal Australian Navy at Nowra 06/10/48. The Spitfires were not flown but taxied around the dummy deck at Nowra and used to train ground handling staff. They were then destroyed on the fire dump.
Prior to this it was in storage at No.2 Aircraft Depot at Richmond from 26/02/46 and it is possible this is where your photo was taken.

2AD was where I was working when I came across the negs, so that fits in.
I purchased them from one of my SNCO's whose father-in-law had served there during the war and had recently passed on. He had left the Sgt an extensive collection of 30's & 40's origainal B&W RAAF pics. I was only a young LAC at the time & that pic collection became the start of my collection (that was 25yrs ago).
By the way I dig your serials site!!!
