Aleutian B-24

I was just flicking through a facinating book called Shot to Hell by Cory Graff (ISBN 0-7603-1609-0) which is loaded with fascinating photos and photo sets and one particular photo caught my eye. It is a picture of a B-24D of the 30th Bomb Group after making a soft belly landing (v.little visible damage) on Great Sitkin island in the Aleutians. The attached note says that it is still visible where it lay.
What I would like to know is;
Is this a well known wreck?
How much is left?
Recovery possible?
Current / recent photos?
I will apologise in advance if this has been done to death already.

I'm not sure but I think that's the bomber that Hill AFB is rebuilding for their Museum in Ogden, Utah

The B-24 at the Hill AFB Museum is indeed the one that made a belly landing on Great Sitkin. See this site:

I posted some pictures of this plane under the Hill AFB Museum thread.
It should look really nice when they are able to finish it up. It does appear that it will be mainly just a "ornament" - very little if any interior will be restored - hoping I'm wrong on this - maybe someone here knows more?

YOUR RIGHT THE RECOVERY VIDEO IS AVIALABLE THROUGH THEIR GIFT SHOP.IT WAS VERY BADLY DAMAGED BY OTHER SALVORS BEFORE BEING RECOVERED AND RESTORED.IT THINK THAT A TOTAL RESTORATION IS PLANNED BUT ON THE LONG TERM SIDE THANKS MIKE

Shot to Hell is a great book. I would sorely love to pick through the scrap pile on page 124.

Ordered my copy this morning, but my favourite picture so far (I have only flicked through a shop display copy) has to be the one with the shark mouthed P-40 with a "mouthfull" of P-51 wing bits.
