F2G Question

I was reading on the F-82 thread that the ex- Soplata F2G #74 has been sold??? and that it's going to be a flier now???!!!!! Can anyone verify this? I LOVE all Corsairs, but there's something special about the corncob variety!!! I'd really love to see one painted in the military colors with the checkerboard cowling, but I'm just dreaming. With such a neat paint scheme, I'm sure #74 will be restored as #74. Thanks in advance for any replies...this is all news to me.

And the Navy will not even thank you for pressure washing it as they load it up and haul it away w/out even so much as a Truck (rhyme) you very much

That's the one! What a sexy airplane!!!! The climb rate on that airplane was supposed to be phenomenal, but the looks are enough for me!! If I find my Corsair in another country, then the Navy won't have anything to say about it, will they?!!! Like I said, I'm a dreamer.

According to the August 1945 preliminary Flight manual for the F2G-1, -2 the figures from sea level at various weights were:
12,800 lbs 4,020 fpm
13,800 lbs 3,630 fpm
15,400 lbs 3,040 fpm
Not too dusty!

The Cleveland Race Museum did indeed sell the aircraft. Before you ask who bought it, I must have walked under a magnet and lost that bit of info…sorry! It's currently at Odegaard Aviation, in Kindred ND, under restoration. When the Race Museum owned it, they were having it restored (At Oder's shop) for a static display. The new owner intends to fly it. No word on what he paint scheme will be but in my opinion the only appropriate one would be as race #74.
