JU-88 of the 79th FG AAF

Captured JU-88 captured and repaired by men of the 86th FS and flown from Italy to Wright Field in 1944 by Comanche pilots Major Fred Borsodi (the guy with the big smile) and 1Lt Pete Bedford. So now what is the ID of this Junkers and what happened to it???
BTW Borsodi was killed while demonstrating the YP-80 s/n 44-83026 in England on Jan 28, 1945. He was slated to be the #1 AAF X-1 pilot

Interesting photo Jack. There is a JU 88 currently on display in Dayton at the Natl Museum of the USAF. I wonder if its the same one? www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/factsheets/fa ... asp?id=506

Scrapped I'm sorry to say, I have the ID somewhere. IIRC it is an A model.
The NMUSAF aircraft is a D model and served with the Romanian AF

I have conflicting info as to the variant and werknummer, but most sources I've come across seem to agree that
'Comanche' was a Ju 88A. The assigned FE number was FE-1599.
