This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Rob et al--
VWoC's Corsair (and Mustang) were slated to be at Quebec City airshow this weekend. I'm sure we'll see the "new" Hammy Gray VC Corsair at the Hope in future though! CWH are building beautifully on the momentum evident at Flyfest a year ago; and it's terrific to see the cooperation, so clearly pictured in Doug's photos, between the various collectors and groups. At times it seems like a wonderful waking dream, to those of us who remember the brief span around 1999 when our local circuit was entirely bereft of prop-driven fighters...That lineup on CWH's ramp today was Duxford-calibre, and that five-plane vic from this weekend may be unprecedented anywhere. Needless to say I've rejoined for 08-09; the sky appears to be the limit now!

Two questions:
1) Why is the front part of the cowl ring on the Lysander unpainted? I believe I've seen that on other examples as well.
2) What is the pod on the right wing of the Firefly? It has a clear plexiglass nose covering. Is that some kind of camera pod or what?
Thanks for the awesome pictures! How great to see examples of 3 different organizations working together for their mutual benefits. Now if they could only hold a "super air show" for all warbirds up north with participation from all 3 museums, I would definitely go. That's starting to look like some of the English airshows from the 70's. I hope it gets bigger and better!

I believe the front part of the cowling formed part of the exhaust collecter ring, and
Leigh light housing?

What's a leigh light housing?

Leigh light - airborne searchlight used mainly in anti-submarine role.

Wow, how neat! I had never heard of that before. Thanks!

After seeing Doug and Eric's photos, there is little need for mine, but here are a few quick edits I did Saturday night in the hotel. This is my first all digital airshow, and it appears there is a learning curve.
Now there are the other 300 images from CWH Saturday and Russell's on Sunday. I should have them all ready to post by December 2009.

Hey Jim, it was great seeing you and Heather Saturday. I never did make it down to Niagara South. Had some fun last night at Hamilton.
