You are correct if you were referring to North American not producing the "C" model(Tailhook). NAS Pensacola took in selected planes, took the tail apart and added the structure. The steel structure will not fit inside the top access hole. The only way to get that inside was to remove skin and stringers from one side. Also they added longeron doublers that once back together you can not see. I had several parts that had the "PEN" stamp. It is my understanding that the parts made or overhauled from NARF Pensacola sometimes had the inspection stamp as an approval for service.

I am sworn to secrecy but I can tell you the next project is (sound of Chuck hitting the back of my head with a 3/4 drive breaker bar and me falling face down onto the keyboard) ohgn;ojhg;onvehgvn;ajp;...

I was refering to his forehead typing (ohgn;ojhg;onvehgvn;ajp;...) that was never produced by N.A. Your response is an attempt to draw people away from the fact that we still don't know what the next project is!

I really enjoy seeing the work you have done Chuck. I have an extra tail cone in my garage that is damaged. Everytime I review the pictures of your tail cone rebuild I'm tempted to start drilling on that thing!

Chunks,
The Tailcone is easy. Wait till you drop a set of wings to the floor. I lost count of the number or rivets, and the number of broken drill bits.

So, did you have a replica stamp made for your parts after painting?

I really think that is a VERY neat touch. Easy to do, but most people would not go to the trouble.
