hmm... just looking at the URL that does state that it's a 3/4 scale, it really makes me wonder.... how come with some replica designs, they do something that makes it really not look like the airplane they are doing?

For instance, this Mosquito replica looks like it's going to have a very strange looking nose. It kind of looks like an Airspeed Oxford nose or an Anson. Could they not have made it more accurate, or was there a safety/design requirement that forced them to do that?

The laws of physics and scale do not always coincide. The nose may be changed to fit the people inside. Also, on reduced scale aircraft some things like the tail surfaces generally need to be enlarged.

My congrats to these folks! I think its bizarre there have been no previous attempts to build a scale Mosquito until now, and yet the Butterworth "Westland Whirlwind" 3/4 machine was created!

I imagine Merlins would possibly be a bit powerful for the airframe? (not that I;m an engineer at all...or anything approaching one!) Imagine the performance compared with "the real thing"!

Very keen to see it completed, and flying. Fantastic! And will plans be available...... :wink:

Is a 3/4 scale Mossie a warbird? I wouldn't consider this a replica if it is really 3/4 but a homebuilt mini mossie. It seems to me it would have been better off to go full scale. They can name it the Midget Mossie.
As someone here mentioned they can market a kit.
