What was that?

Tue Feb 01, 2005 4:04 pm

Just heard a what sounded like military jets heading over so I looked up wondering if they might be low enough to be visible under the low ceiling. If I saw anything at all I figured it would probably be an F-16 from the National Guard in Tulsa. To my surprise a couple of delta winged fighters popped out in the open for about 2 seconds before dissappearing back into the muck. What delta winged fighters might be flying around Tulsa? Maybe it was just my eyes playing tricks with me! Maybe it was just a mirage

Elwyn
I haven't seen any pass through Bangor lately(They do slip by me on occasion) but could it have been Tornado's, Britt or German, heading for Nellis? I see them pass through here on a regular basis.

From the response I got over on the Flypast Forum it looks like were most likely KFIRs.

I never gave a thought to the Israelies. And I've seen them enough times to know!

Supposedly there are several KFIRS in the US used for agressor training.

Hey Elwyn,
What part of OK are you in? I spent my four in the USAF at Altus. The Dust Storms, thunder storms and tornados were wild!

Here's a Tornado at BIA just because(and a test to see if it works).

Broken Arrow which is right next to Tulsa. No dust storms but plenty of thunderstorms and tornados.

There are a couple of SAAB Draakens operating in the US too... so that's another delta possibility. I thought that the F-21's had been returned to Israel ... didn't realize they still used them as aggressor aircraft.

Cheers,
Richard

The Kfirs are no longer used as aggressors.

A photo from airliners.net taken a couple of weeks ago of a Kfir operated by ATAC.

That's an interesting twist to the story! Looks like we're all correct, then.
