Great Shots!
Thanks for posting them Rich.
I love the blue airship gondola. Never knew they painted any like that!

I have often wondered if any of the navy blimps still survive somewhere folded up and stuck in a box (a really big box) in an obscure government warehouse.

I think blimps were sort of the pre-cursor to the Tomcat. The "powers that be" couldn't wait to destroy all traces of them. Still, there's always that chance. I'm surprised Walter Soplata never got one!

I always got a kick out of that. I wonder if they painted a "false gondola" on the top of the blimp, a la the false cockpit on the A-10? Never underestimate the government's propensity to do silly things...especially with our money. :)

Rich,

Really enjoyed the photos. I have a Coastie friend who's a former PBM pilot.....................says that "low pass" is kinda high. 8)

The photo of the SNJ flight line with the lone seemingly brand new T-28 next to them.....any idea of the year on that one?

Thank you for sharing.

Regards
Steve

Rich,
Great job on your uncle's slides. I really appreciate the photos of both the A and C models of the C-124. Brings back a lot of memories.

fabulous shots Rich. The crashed Skyraider is definitely not in Bermuda. The background is not correct. I am writing a book on the history of aviation in Bermuda. I would like to hear from anyone with shots/stories from there.
Regards
Tom

Amazing stuff Rich. I could've sworn that T-6 was Chuck Gardner being photographed by Trey Carrol!

Are you sure those SNJ shots are 50+ years old!?!?

Yes, and as a side note, Ray Stutsman used my uncle's shots to accurately mark his SNJ upon rebuild after it had suffered an engine failure around Oshkosh-time, I'd say around 1983 or so.

Like-wise, thanks for sharing the awesome pictures.

A little hard to make out but i think the Skyraider reads BuNo 126935 (anyone else see it better)

Interestingly enough J.B. say this about 126935:

Could it be the same aircraft???

your recent postings of your uncle's slides has made my day! As an author writing a history of aviation in Bermuda I was delighted to see the shot of the Pan Am Stratocruiser landing at Kindley Field Bermuda. The line-up of four blimps is also taken at Kindley Field. The cars all have "P" number plates which was definitely Bermuda.
Any chance you can send me hi-res scans of these Bermuda shots? Thanks
Tom
