Always busy, Airshow Pilot Rob Holland looks really tall in that thing.

Hi Guys,
The heavy rain during the morning on Sunday really put a damper on the flying in the afternoon, even though the weather was beautiful later on. "American Beauty" and the Potter Mustang departed through the puddles, but the rest of the fighters were waiting until Monday to leave due to runway conditions.
Saturday was definately the best day, but I would have to say that the highlight for me was sitting for an hour with Col. Lee Archer and Capt. Roscoe Brown, listening to some great stories. I also had an opportunity to talk to "Speedy," who was the radio operator of the HAG's C-47, flying his first combat mission on D-Day. It was really exciting for him to be reunited with the actual aircraft that he flew aboard during his time in Europe.
There wasn't much going on in town Sunday night.......I mean that town was DEAD after the airshow  The drive home was a lot easier on Monday morning.
See you next year.

As part of the LI contingent, Pat's right....The Gennie experience is second to none. Saturday was the best day even with the light rain that came through right when the warbirds came back from their set. My only complaint was the warbird flying was somewhat subdued, and the finale was anti-climactic for Geneseo. The fighters (F4U, P-51) flew briefly mid day and were hampered by that rain shower. I didn't get much footage because of that. Also, they flew very high passes, as did the B-17. The P-40's came back in for some more hi passes and then just the formation break to land. I spoke to a few of the fighter pilots, and they said they were told to do that, they really wanted to get down low and mix it up for the crowd.

In years past, the finale would have included the P-51's as well as the P-40's and B-17 but not this year. And of course there was no warbird flying on Sunday except for the departing passes by American Beauty and the Potter example. Until next year..............

Could not agree more, it is a awsome show but a little lacking from the previous years I have gone. I talked to a few pilots and they said the FAA boys were not letting them play :(

One thing not mentioned was the glider aerobatics, first time I saw this done and it was very cool ( too bad I was getting a cold drink, I would have liked to get it on video )

I had a strange experience on my Canada-US border crossing on my drive down on Friday to Geneseo. We arrived around lunch at the border with passports in hand and everything seemed correct until something came up on the system...so I was asked to get out of my car where I was handcuffed and taken in for questioning....everything was cleared up after 30 minutes and I was send on my way with little in the way of explanation...my wife was left quite stressed and I was left feeling well bleh. :( It was my first bad experience at the border but it did leave a bad taste in my mouth for the week..have any other cross border travelers ever ran into issues lately....

But I did enjoy my day at Geneseo...beautful day on Saturday for sure...

P40's were in their glory

That's terrible, Andrew. What's with these anal border guards anyway? Hopefully you and your missus can look back and chuckle about this in the future.

So I take it they never found the Mary Jane you hid in the hubcaps? 8)

Thats a strange cross border story! I had a fairly easy crossing, other than the hour long wait at the Quenston-Lewiston Bridge. The guard asked what we were doing, I said we were going to the Geneseo Air Show, he said he would go if he weren't working, and we were on our way. Well, at least you've got an interesting story to tell your friends now!

Mike & Eric....

Is that one of those new fuel cost saving methods that some of the larger airlines have been putting in place recently....first take out the on-board movies....next remove unnecessary aircraft doors... :D

...not to mention reducing weight from losing the occasional unwary passenger...
