Hey!!! I believe that the first Spitfire picture is Jim Beasley's Mk XVIII which should be coming to the US of A in the very near future. Can someone confirm that for me??

Thanks

Greg

That is true. I imagine we'll be seeing it here in the states in the very near future, according to reports.

Thank you for posting these excellent photos PeterA! The newly restored Mk.Ia looks excellent, and each color looks like it was matched perfectly to spec.

Many thanks for taking the time to post, Peter.

If those two Gladiators were in camo paint I'd probably be applying for dual citizenship. Very nice achievement.

Jim houses his planes in Pennsylvania! If indeed thats his spitfire...I am gonna pee my pants in excitement cause I live in Pa too! Hmmmmm gonna have to make a trip down to see Jim. Actually I am planning a trip to Philly to tour Easter State in September/October. Maybe I'll make a detour in the process.

Yup she's soon to be a PA resident. The plan is to get her in a crate by 25 July for shipping but there's still a few issues with her before she's ready to get going (Fred?). Anyway with any luck she'll be here in the middle of August. Come on by when you're around. jb

It looks like all those Spits parked next to each other are probably swapping stories about how to mess with the darn Yankee Mechanic's Mind. After all. I don't even speak the lingo. What is a Spanner? What do you need a trestle for? Don't they know that is what spans a river and trains travel over it? Atmosphere, Thats what we breathe! At least they use inches and such, but it isn't as though they need to mark hardware diameters on there sockets and wrenches. I think we must have borrowed all our tools for the Merlin from someone who had the initials of BS. I hope he doesn't want them back.

Many years ago I was asked at Van Nuys "Can you understand Spitfire manuals & do you have any Whitworth tools?"
Yes & yes..
