This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Chris,
how's it going, been away for awhile, but some of the people we have spoken about off forum say yes its here and yes it came from Indonesia. Sounds like you have a good source.
Seems like some people are either a bit surprised or upset by this possible import. I say possible because I haven't seen it but the sources have been quite reliable before. I reckon we should only post pictures when all those requesting the same identify who they are, that way wixers can feel comfortable about releasing such specific information. I have passed on images and details to others on this forum and got nothing in reply, so don't be bullied into giving out too much. I'm sure most would agree with that, so what do you say Jungle Bob!...who are you anyway?????

Hi Dave
I believe theres even a Jungle Bob song at one establishment !!!!
To be fair I also believe he didn't think up the name - somone called him it and it stuck.
Anyway without him a lot of aircraft wouldn't have been saved - Well done Jungle Bob!!!

Dave and John
well most people do know who he is, but why dosn't he come out and just say it????
And why your support for this covert-ness given some or both of your comments on previous posts about coming-out and being open and honest with the rest of the Wixers. I have no problems with anyone expressing their opinions but when its done in a third person sense I can't help but feel they have something to hide.
Lets maintain the standard and apply the rules evenly to all users, without the pressure to produce more evidence than is necessary. Unless of course there is more going on here than the rest of us are not aware of.

Sorry guys, JB and RG are not the same person but I am a good friend of his. RG hates the name and likes to live quietly and no longer comments on any forum.
Sorry to dissapoint.

First and foremost I have not changed my opinion about psudonyms - I DO NOT AGREE WITH THEM - everybody knows who I am where I live and what I stand for. They may or may not like it but it is out there and up front as are you. Robert often posts and uses his name when he has something to say. As I said without him Many aircraft would now be drink cans and I respect him for that. As with most people legends build but fact is often a lot more boring and as you may or may not know you can ring Robert up and ask him and he will let you have a look at the workshop - I did and Tony Andrews did - To some people Robert is Jungle Bob - I have heard people call him that - Not to his face but they did call him that - I don't know what he thinks about it. I would rather talk about P47s with him however the myth of Jungle Bob obviously lives on and we have someone now using it as a Handle. I would rather they use it as there handle and sign their posts with their name but I can't make them do that
Digger I also support a lot of people who don't agree with everything I believe in. The issue is they also do things I do agree with. For instance on the issue of bringing home the remains of dead pilots quite a few people disagreed with me - I would have liked to change their minds but at the end of the day they do things and say things I do support - do I dissagree with them about everything just because they won't own up to who they are - No I don't like it and I think as always have said they should say who they are but if they offer something I don't reject it either.
One thing I can't stomach however is people hiding behind a false identity and then attacking a forum member in a cowardly abdication of Morality - that is a killer for me and a big enough excuse to permanently have them off my list of respected comentators.
Please don't take this as a criticism of you - Irespect your knowledge and opinions - I just answered honestly your query.

Hmmm..... poor form using someone elses, and for a lot of people, known, non de plume, - means that person inevitably takes the wrap for your opinions, even if the real JB was consulted before hand.
I however understand that some need to remain unidentified to the majority of folks on a forum.

Hello:
This is starting to sound like a soap opera. Leave JungleBob alone. If he wants to remain anonymous let him do so. Keep in mind this is a public forum, and all of our words are recorded here and we are responsible for them. A few may not be ready for that.

Sorry Rob:
We're in the public domain, leave the guy alone.

I have to agree, in part with Rohr on this one, as for ;
"One thing I can't stomach however is people hiding behind a false identity and then attacking a forum member in a cowardly abdication of Morality - that is a killer for me and a big enough excuse to permanently have them off my list of respected comentators."
not sure what or who you are directing this comment to, and I can't say I've read an example of it either, but I am relatively new to this site. What I can say is I have read and do understand the rules for using this forum but I also believe there are some underlying principals here to. If that makes me moralistic? then were does honesty fit in (nowhere I guess). All I'm saying is that a lot of people have used and continue to use this forum as a way of expanding their knowledge base with regards to Warbirds etc. If people are not going to come out and confirm who they are and how they fit in to the big picture, then they should be ignored. I'd like to know that information I have forwarded to several parties via this forum is not used for commercial gains, but rather helped another individual achieve a goal or ambition of doing the research and completing that with a successful recovery.
If Jungle Bob is using someone elses handle, it should be stopped, because I do agree that reputations should be protected and most certainly if someone was doing it to me and I found out about it, I would most definately be making a comment and setting the Public record straight. Finally, just because someone has hundreds of posts dosn't make them right all the time, but I agree that we are entitled to disagree, however respectfully!

Hi Peter
Well said - I entirely agree with you. The pop I had at cowards dates back to some best forgotten rubbish years ago which has largely ceased now.
Kindest regards

To return to the topic, I would assume its probably a replica (See the Texas Air Mueseum Fw 190s thread, it talks about Ki 51 replicas by Mr. Laing). So, I highly doubt its a real Ki 44.
Sombody PLEASE prove me wrong. I would REALLY like to see a REAL Ki 44 (Tojo, I believe).
