Back in the mid 80's or so I watched Pete Regina land at Fullerton CA (KFUL-3100'- paved) in Shangri-la. He made a low dirty pass and then came around and landed. He remarked to me that it was actually easier and he needed less runway than he thought.

Considering various gross weights and density altitude and an over the fence speed of around 120, I've been comfortable with the Mustang at around 2000 feet hard surface or grass.
Those barn doors and the wide stance were nice!!!!
Wet grass can get interesting however on a short strip!
