hello guys and gals:
I'm looking for info on a B-24 named "Nona Rhea". It was an H-1 model, S/N # 42-7612, and served with the 446th BG, 707th BS until being transferred to the 492nd BG. It was marked as war weary on 6/1944. I'm looking for any info/photos mostly of this plane or any of its squadronmates to get an accurate color scheme for a model I'm preparing to do. This one was chosen as it was the plane that my girlfriends grandfather (Allen P. Dean) as bombadier. The family has no info on his wartime duties, apparently he didn't like talking about them much. So much so they thought he flew on a B_17 insted. I found two crew photos with him in it, but was looking for a good shot of the plane or any sister ships. Any info or ideas of where to look would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
matt

From this site:

http://www.b24bestweb.com/nonarhea.htm

comes this information:

"Info Contributor - Tom Brittan

Originally converted to B-24HSA and assigned to 8 492 858 (RCL unknown). In the Summer of 1944, flew out of Leuchars, Scotland on Col. Bernt Balchen's clandestine Ball Project . Transferred between 6 Nov & 6 Dec 44 to 859th BS (Y). Transferred 28 Feb 45 to 15th AF and probably assigned to 15th Special Operations Group (Provisional).

Standing (L-R)
John J. Twarog - Waist Gunner
Edward W. Berry - Waist Gunner/Ball Turret
Nicholas A. Iovine - Radio Operator
Marion C. Sears - Ball Turret/Waist Gunner
H. Magoon - Tail Gunner
Paul P. Zipay - Engineer/Top Turret Gunner Kneeling (L-R)
Paul Park - Pilot
Albert Jensen - Navigator
Andrew Lipsky - Co-Pilot
Allen P. Dean - Bombardier"

I guess that's your girlfriend's grandfather on the front right?

Kinda looks like the wavy OD over gray camo scheme from 1942-43, as seen on this Tulsa-built B-24H, 41-28641.
