HI All,

Sorry! I know I said I wasn't going to post here, only on the off topics board, but after seeing how many views this board gets I decided to post just this once.

For those of you who don't read the "Off Topic" discussions regularly, I have decided to create a WIX Cookbook. There has been some interest, and I hope to hear from everyone from around the world. My goal is to make this book a reflection of the members of this board.

The first thing I need from all of you is a name for the book. PLEASE suggest names, and I will put them all into a poll and you can all vote.

The second thing I need is: recipes......if you don't cook, surely you like to eat, and if you don't have a recipe for a favorite dish, tell me what it is, and I will find a recipe for it, and it include it as.....i.e......."Joe's favorite" Macaroni and cheese.

Tulio has suggested using a picture of a Shark mouth warbird on the cover with food in its mouth. I like this. Can anyone draw this and send me the picture, or should I try to create something using an actual picture?

Scott, do you have a high resolution .jpg, or .bmp of the WIX logo, that you can email me? I thought if I didn't use it on the cover, I would use it on the inside cover.

We need pictures. I would like to have a close up of each of your handsome faces to put on the back cover. Also, favorite warbird shots.

There will be a dedication page, and I REALLY want all of your ideas for this.

I can include advertising pages, if anyone would be interested in purchasing a page, please let me know.

I like the idea of dividing the recipes by geographical regions. I thought I would include a small map below each regional title, to show where the contributor is located.

ALL of the profits of this book go to Scott, and I mean ALL of the profits. The only thing I will deduct from the profits, are materials, and postage. I beleive strongly in this board, and all of you, and this will be a most satisfying experience for me, knowing that I contributed in some small way!

Come on guys, lets hear your ideas! The COL has kindly offered tro come to your homes and, "encourage" each of you to participate, so I truly hope for great participation :!:   :!: Thanks everyone!

Best wishes,
Karen

Hmm, Scotland is quite a long way for Col R to make a house call but I'll not take any chances!

Title? I'll kick of with a short suggestions along the lines of 'What We Eat' but how about........ What Wix Eat?

Will come up with a recipe soon. Maybe one that has whisky in it :partyman:

Hi Karen, great idea, how about beer can chicken for a recipe. I like the idea of a sharkmouthed P-40 on the cover!

shark mouth P40 diving onto a nice steak with all the trimming shaped sort of like the logo for wix with a knife under one wing and a fork under the other.

Beer can chicken sounds great!
I think the easiest thing for everyone will be to just PM the recipes to me. As I have a good deal of Scottish & Irish ancestors, I look forward to any contributions from those and all the other countries of the world. Thanks guys!

It's almost game time.. :D ...this is one of those games where I tell my kids, "Now anything you hear come out of Mom's mouth, you never ever repeat! My boys are 12 and 15, and I honestly suspect that when they are with their peers, they have heard worse than anything I'm likely to say! But better safe than sorry! I will be watching the game all by my lonesome  , but at least I won't have any distractions!

Here's hoping it's a good one!
Go Eagles! :P

Sounds good Tim! Did you ever try adding a bottle of beer to saurkraut? I was amazed how much it mellowed out the flavor!

I guess I have to ask why mellow the flavor; sauerkraut is great just the way it is.

Now boiling up some bratwursts in beer the throwing them on the grill is great! Is it Oktoberfest yet?

I haven't had a decent bratwurst in....forever! Brats prepared as you mentioned, and topped with saurkraut and mustard......Heaven! I agree with you about the saurkraut, but unfortunately my family doesn't care for the bite.

Hey Guys....speaking of grilling their has to be a lot of you that love to grill! How 'bout sharing some of those recipes?

Things are looking good!

Best wishes,
Karen

Good idea Rob!

How about pre-flight something??? For appetizers

Something to do with lubrication...or fuel for beverages??

Golfers have the nineteenth hole for the after game refreshments...what do pilots have? You could use that for desserts?

These are just thoughts to get you started.....

Have fun with it!

Karen

okay here goes for some:
soup = fuels, oils
drinks = lubricants, coolant
appetisers = pre-flight walk around ( or should this be for aperitifs or hors d'ouvres? ), spinner
main course = fuselage.
dessert = bomb damage assessment, tail feathers
after dinner drinks and cigars = debriefing, wake turbulence
side dishes like salads = wings, ordnance.

there you go, if I can do that with the start of a migraine headache the rest of you ought to be able to do something too.

Thanks for the kind words, folks. I'm up for any and all suggestions, the cover idea I put up was thrown together in about 30-40 minutes while I was trying to sell off one of my cars. It is only meant as a rough draft, not as a final draft. I actually originally envisioned several planes in silhouette aaginst the sun over a modern city, something that portrayed the fact these pieces of aviation history being maintained and flown in the modern day...

If it's going to be used as a back cover I would like to see the front cover so that I can make it somewhat co-ordinate, be it just using the same fonts or colors, what have you. I really like the whole idea of a shark-mouth P-40 having dinner, might I suggest it's coffee mug be shaped like a 55 gallon oil drum? LOL! I could also add anything text-wise that you decide.

In my defense, I chose a Mustang as the focus for two reasons, 1.) it is arguably the most recognixed of all warbirds to the general public (i.e. I wasn't sure this was going to be published for WIX members only or sold to anyone and everyone to raise funds for WIX and opted for the latter choice), and 2.) It was left over from an earlier design I intended to use on my 79th. Fighter Squadron CD-ROM. To be honest I'd rather see a P-38 as I'm a Forked-Tail fan.

I've asked Mrs. Buster (lord would she kill me for calling her that, LMAO!) to dig out a few recipes to include as well.

Just get some ideas together and I'll see what I can come up with, I figure that these forums have done so much for me I can give a little back by helping out on the projects where my skills can be of use.
