I'll be there. Just don't ask where 'there' is, or when. :D

It's a shame there's no time to make Christchurch. It's one of my favorite citys. Really nice people, beautiful place, lots of CD beer! I wish I had back just half of the money I've spent in O'rileys Irish Pub over the years!

I never got to see John Smith's place, but I did make the Air Force Museum several times as well as Ferrymead. The plastic Spitfire on the pole by the airport is worth a look as well. The hotel we stayed in every year was between the Antarctic center and the Spitfire. The first year I went down there, I woke up and looked out the window, only to see a Spitfire in the distance. I kept staring at it, waiting for it to move when I finally realized it was mounted on a pole.

I'm a little slow. It took me two trips down there to figure out what the "All Blacks " were.

Who says we're not going to Christchurch or Wanaka? I think Mr. Setter is still working on the agenda, so I wouldn't rule anything out at this point. Besides, there are always airplanes flying back and forth, you know!

Hi Setter, I am currently domiciled in Auckland and would love to meet up with you guys, there are other attractions around auckland that have not been mentioned such as Stan Smiths at Dairy flat (airworthy DH Dragon, Percival Proctor, Moth Minor etc.) also the NZ wing of the CAF, War Memorial Museum (Spitfire and Zero) and lets not forget Ardmore in general ( NZ Warbirds, Pioneer, Avspecs), not to mention lots of good bars.
So if you are interested in meeting up send me an E-mail.

Cheers.....Marcus. :D

First, a big thank you to Locobuster, Mr. Syd Edwards for the t-shirt design and production. Mrs. Patterson is most pleased. Don't worry Rob, I'll save one for you!

Wow, looks like Setter, JDK and Dave have been busy planning my time in NZ and Oz. Should be great! I'm really looking forward to meeting as many of you from the forum as possible (and Gnome, I'm instructed to buy you a drink from a secret admirer who likes your style, whatever that means. All I know is we get to have a free drink! You just can't beat that!)

I'm just back from 4 days of L-39 flying in Phoenix with the Hoppers. About 2000 nm round trip, plus 4 sorties a day to "knock the rust off". The flight is looking good for this year and we should have some fun displays. Yesterday we flew back here to Kansas City and I took the group out for Bar-B-Que, KC style. A very enjoyable time. The only downside is the weather turned to total cr@p here today and the boys had to continue home on the airlines. The L-39, with no de-ice equipment, isn't the aircraft for hard IFR flying in the winter.

And now that I have had my flying fix, time to launch for New Zealand.

See you there!

Steve

The paint scheme is Egyptian AF desert camo. I added the red star and "white 20" as these were the colors and numbers she wore while serving in the Soviet Air Force.

Here's a before and after photo. Communism...bad politics, fun toys.

My pleasure, Steve, glad Mrs. Patterson is pleased! Watch for an e-mail from me later tonight, I've been swamped with the paper and computer woes.

Col. Rohr, yep, and I forgot the Morris dancers....so I guess this will have to do... be warned, the music can cause seizures....
