PT-19 Carburettor

Can anyone confirm the model of carburettor as fitted to Ranger engines on PT-19's?

I'm without my manuals and the memory isn't what it used to be!

I have the PT-19 manuals loaded in my computer, and they state:

Stromberg NA-R4B

Tulio, my good friend. My Ranger manual in Chapter VIII, Page 140, under Supplementary Information/Approved Accessories lists two carburetors.

From Stromberg Aircraft Carburetor Div. of the Bendix Products Division, South Bend, Indiana, the NA-R4B.

From the Marvel-Schebler Carburetor Division of the Borg-Warner Corporation of Flint, MI., the MA-4-5.

I have little more than that, sorry. :wink:

I don't have a Ranger manual.... yet. But I have three Ranger engines in different grades of incompleteness : )

Check that Fairchild PT-19 manual CD that I sent you a while ago (if you still have it). All of the Ranger manuals should be on that.

Let me know if they aren't there, and I will get you a new one.

Not to pick nits, but the question was for PT-19's (civil M62) and those are confined to Ranger 6-440-C2 of 175 (military type L-440-1's). Those models are to use the Stromberg only. The Marvel tractor carb was exclusive to the 200hp (C5's) engines.
You do not need manuals to confirm this. This can all be ascertained from the FAA type certs (The Ranger engine is under # E216) online here:

Personally, I think the 200HP Rangers run just a bit happier with the Marvel but alas...the 4 bolt manifold(Stromberg hangs on with two studs) is much harder to find.
