Stumbled across this auction on eBay for Duane Beeson's winter service dress uniform:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=013

Bidding is relatively reasonable, but still too rich for this poor boy. Hopefully it will find its way into a museum collection...

Caveat Emptor.
There's no proof it's his so I'd beware of it.
Beeson's mom gave all she had inc his uniform to
the Paul's for their museum!

D.W. Beeson never wore RAF Wings.

He resigned his RCAF Commission in London, England on September 22, 1942.

He joined the USAAF on September 23, 1942.

The three Eagle Squadrons were disbanded and became the 4Th Fighter Group on September 29, 1942.

Those Wings on that tunic should be RCAF!

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.

Oh yeah, it's obvious that, Beeson's actual Class A jacket or not, the cloth wings over the right breast are "aftermarket". Those 4th FG alums eligible to wear them wore smaller versions of their RAF/RCAF wings. If that is not pointed out in the Item Description, that's "strike one" for me.

Pic from an eBay auction where a guy wants $7 Large for this pic plus a letter ... I want a hit of that sh*t he's smokin'

I look at things like this like I look at autographs ... unless provenance is firmly documented, I'll take a pass ...

Tom - how do you like the diaries?

As of yesterday, the package had not arrived.

Sometimes, it takes the pony a few extra days to ride North to Canada.

Cheers,

Tom.

Yeah, I ship stuff all over the globe, and hands down the one guy - must be only one - working Canadian customs is slower than them all ... when he's not on a coffee break!
