Just came across this and it was news to me. Amazing the preserving capabilities of a bog.

Caution the pictures are graphic. But atleast another brave soul has come home.

Wow, I cant believe those shots. :shock: Respect all around to the pilot and family. Truly sad, but still amazing how the body was preserved. What was the situation with the wreck? Was it intact?

I don't know if that is the same one Yagen has- That one is in pretty restorable condition. I was told the pilot of that a/c(below) hed been killed by a round which went through the windscreen, him, and then ricocheted off the armor plate behind the headrest. You can see the mark on the front of the armor plate.

It is. I shot a bunch of photos of it, which you can see on my website here... interestingly, the techs at the Fighter Factory gave the aircraft a wide berth, as they said there was something "weird" about it. Draw your own conclusions. :)

Presumably the quarter-light, rather than the armoured glass. Anything through that would've been a cannon shell and made a mess, not a dent.

You are most likely right- I don't recall, but do know the front panel is armoured. BTW- The empennage is crated up behind the cockpit area.
