This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Whats the story with the FW-190 i saw in a few photos posted here awhile back about one of the great Flug Werk examples now located in Ohio?

Is that one at the Tri-State Warbird Museum? There's nothing about it on their website, but the site seems a rather out of date. Does anyone know if the museum is still open to the public? I'm planning on being in Cinci next month, and would like to stop by.

Yes, they have a the 190 there. It was donated to them this past year. The museum is still open to the public on Wednesday nights 4-7, and also on Saturdays from 10-3.

I am going to Terra Haute in the t-6 and my dad is picking up axis nightmare. I will tell him to get some pics of the fw-190.

That would be much appreciated Brian.

Yes, they have started to work on it, but I am not an A&P and I can see why only one has flown. I will try and get pics next time I am there. They are also working on a P-40M that is going to be amazing. the quality of the work being done is excellent. They also have a an FG-1D that is also being restores.

Is the quality of work not that good on Flug Werk aircraft?
Also thanks Rob, been on the site more than a few times. All in all, compared to some other Warbird sites, this one is pretty good, though it leaves some stuff to be desired. Id wish to see more of an update and gallery of the individual aircraft. But then again its easier to judge that to create.

What were you going for Trey? I mean, I'm no A&P mechanic either, but from what I've seen in the pics, I'd say its far from not being good. Each fighter they've made looks fantastic! But thats me.

I visited last year before the P-40 and the FW-190 arrived...but here are a few photos of the other aircraft. I also heard they added a Strikemaster to the collection.

More basic than that.....
New hand built AC with:
- No local flying counterpart to compare to
- No detailed docs with minimum reference to
- Unknow airframe
- Etc.....
Would you NOT seriously give this a very complete go over before lifting your as$"%$/$/%"% off the ground ( or anyone else for that matter ).
I think this is the main reason we are not seeing yet the lots of Me-262, Flugwerk 190`s, Oscars, etc....fly a lot yet.
The exceptions are with the Yaks. If did take over 10 years + to get the lots of what we are seeing today in the air.
Just give it time. My 2 Canadian centavos

I can see a lot of areas that I would want to have checked out by experts before I risked my life and an expensive airplane by flying it. First, it is not a Focke Wulf, it is a replica of a 190. It may be a close replica, but there are differences. For instance where the Center of Gravity? You have a non original engine, is it heavier or lighter or mounted differently than the original? Is the CG safe, how will it handle the first time you stall it? And I sure would want to do a few stalls up high to plan the approach speed to use before landing, also how it handles slow flight and a go around. And it is not built in the original FW factory, is the quality up to standards? Is the airfoil as it should be, the gear geometry, etc.? All that being said, I'd sure love to sit in it and taxi it.
